F1 2024 Competition - Rules

Competition Overview

The aim of the competition is to score points based on predicting driver results as detailed below.  There is also a selection of end of season bonus points that can be scored.

Predictions are entered for each race. If you do not enter predictions for a race, your predictions will be carried forward from the previous race.

You can enter the competition more than once (£10 per entry)

Point Scoring - Races

Points are scored from each race as follows:

1st Group A Driver to finish: 05 points
1st Group B Driver to finish: 10 points
1st Group C Driver to finish: 15 points
Pole position: 05 points
Fastest pit lane time (entry to exit): 10 points
Fastest lap of the race: 05 points
Official driver of the day: 10 points
Best improved finishing position: 10 points

Points will also be scored for the driver you select for groups A, B and C based on the difference between the selected driver’s qualifying and finishing position – this could be a positive or negative score.

If your selected driver fails to finish**, does not start the race or does not qualify (DNF / DNS / DNQ), you will score -20 points.

**The exception to this rule is if the selected driver fails to finish due to an accident (regardless of who was to blame), then -10 points will be awards (instead of -20)

If a driver is disqualified (DISQ) you will score -40 points.

End of Season Bonus Points

Additional points can be scored for predicting the final end of season driver and constructor tables

The top driver from each group:
Group A - 20 points
Group B - 30 points
Group C - 40 points

The top constructor from each group:
Group A - 10 points
Group B - 20 points
Group C - 30 points

As in previous year’s competition, you can change your end of season bonus points predictions once during the season up until the prediction deadline for the race after the end of the mid-season summer break (22:00 on 21 August).  However if you do change, that prediction will only score half bonus points at the end of season.  All other unchanged end of season bonus predictions will score full bonus points.

Predictions

The list of the races, drivers and teams are below (and will be published on the web site at the start of the season). If a team replaces a driver during the season, I will advise the driver change (if time allows - some are too last minute).  If you advise a driver change as a result of this, your predictions will be updated, otherwise the replacement driver will be submitted if you have the previously selected driver being replaced.

Predictions must be sent to me by e-mail by 22:00 on the Wednesday before each race.  Late entries may be accepted if predictions have not been published.

  • One driver from each group (A, B & C)
  • Prediction for Pole Position
  • For sprint race weekends pole position is set on Friday
  • Prediction for the driver with the fastest pit lane time (entry to exit)
  • Prediction for the driver who sets the fastest lap of the race
  • Prediction for the Official driver of the day
  • Prediction for the best improved finishing position.
This is based on qualification position compared to final race position.  For sprint race weekends the qualification position will be taken from Friday qualifying and compared to race finish position.

A reminder will be sent by e-mail before each race. If you miss the deadline, your predictions from the previous race will be entered.

Draw at end of season

In the event of a draw at the end of the season including bonus points, the prize money will be shared

Example: if there is a draw for 2nd place between two entrants, the money for 2nd & 3rd will be added together and split equally
